It's based on my graffiti tag, which is based on the Against Me! song, Osama Bin Laden As The Crucified Christ. The song compares the violence trans people face to the persecution of Christ through metaphors of martyrdom and vigilantism. The downstem and circle of the Celtic cross are combined with the transgender symbol.
The technique for the texture is based on a Will Ryman sculpture at New Orleans Museum of Art. It's needles and syringes glued to the cross, and bandaids stuck to the circle and gender symbols, the tools by which i take my hormones.
The colors of the Mars and Venus symbols are swapped from the traditional gender roles to further queer the gender binary.
